Like any good modern love story, ours began with a swipe — proof that sometimes the universe (and a well-tuned algorithm) knows best.

The twist? We lived in the same neighbourhood, just walking distance from each other. Yet, despite countless near-misses at local cafés, woolies runs, or awkward traffic light glances, we never crossed paths. Maybe it was mismatched schedules… or maybe we were both just really good at avoiding eye contact.

Our first date was supposed to be at a charming waterfront café in Rose Bay — scenic, romantic… and completely closed thanks to COVID. Plan B: Ravesis Bar in Bondi. Also a flop — packed to the brim.
